Arthur C. Woods Coaching
What’s your business and the mission of your brand?
I serve as a life coach to middle school & high school students. Our company exists to partner with parents to help their teens develop Wisdom, Confidence and Intentionality in life. We do this primarily through 1:1 virtual coaching.
What made you want to start this business?
I served as a youth pastor for about 10 years and had the opportunity to pour in to the lives of hundreds and hundreds of students. After deciding to leave church based, student ministry, I realized that I could still have a significant impact on individual teenagers by providing powerful coaching to them, to help them succeed at life.
What is one piece of advice that has propelled you and your business?
The idea of embracing failure - expecting it - learning from it - and moving on from it. The most successful people on the planet also have some incredible stories of failure along the way, yet their failures do not characterize them. We need to understand that failure is temporary, and that if we push through it and learn from it, we can remain on a track toward success.
What is something you wished you had known when you first started?
Life coaching (especially for teenagers) is still a relatively new concept to many people. Part of what I get to do is introduce parents and teens to this concept and show them how powerful and valuable coaching can be in their life. Starting out, I'm not sure I realized how new coaching was going to be for people. But that's good, because I get to have those conversations now.
Do you have a specific quote or verse that propels you in harder times?
Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." I try (emphasis on try) to live my life and run my business according to this passage.
How do you incorporate your faith into your business?
I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I incorporate that into my life, but my coaching business is open to teenagers of any faith (or no faith). The things that I teach are not necessarily faith principles, but rather principles related to wisdom, confidence and intentionality. I desire to see teenagers grow and thrive in their life, regardless of what they believe or don't believe about a higher power.
