Your reference should be from someone who has a position that is above you. Avoid a fellow co-worker or cast member.
A director who can speak highly of your diversity and skill set is excellent!
A dance teacher that can speak of your skills, team-work, and ability to try new things.
Your reference needs to be someone you trust, hold to a high standard, and have a good relationship with.
Make sure to ask your reference if they are comfortable being called on the phone.
Always treat your superiors with respect, you never know when you could need them to put in a good word for you, and chances are they will be honored to be a reference or you and will speak highly of you because they want to see you succeed.
It’s always better to have a few different references to choose from then not enough. All references are different, and you will find that some will be better than others for specific auditions.
