“It amazes me that people look up at the sky and think “Wow, God is so amazing!” but then look in the mirror and think “ugh” like God didn’t make both.”
Read that again.
Flowers and Christmas lights are both beautiful, but yet they are still completely different.
So here’s another reminder to stop degrading yourself. Apparently, we need this reminder daily because every day we look in the mirror and pick out our flaws and then later in the day degrade ourselves in front of others because it’s “prideful” to be confident in who we are, our talents, and how we were uniquely designed!
Self love isn’t prideful, it’s respect. Self respect is a form of praise and worship to our Creator in whose image we were made.
Self-love isn’t just telling yourself you’re not ugly.
Self love is physical. It’s going to bed early because your body needs the extra rest. Self-love is eating healthy but enjoying a bowl of ice cream when you have the blues. It’s loving your legs, even though you don’t have that thigh gap like the girl you saw at the gym last week, because guess what? Your legs have held you up on your worst days. It’s loving your stomach because it has consumed so much yummy chipotle and s'mores around a campfire with your favorite people and inside of your stomach that you call ugly holds the ability to produce life! It’s loving your eyes because they have seen so many beautiful people, and your mouth because it has told so many people that you love them.
Self love is mental and emotional. Self love is letting yourself explore new ideas and strategies. Self love is thinking ahead and preparing for the next week. Self love is letting your mind be creative!
Self love is spiritual. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Not just your neighbor, not just the girl at the gym, or that guy in your class. You, my friend are so loved so it’s about time you start to love yourself. Self love is finding joy in your imperfections and flaws and praising God for his overwhelming love and perfectness. Self love is being patient with yourself and trusting the season in which God has you in.
You were put on this earth for beautiful reasons, not to degrade yourself or sell yourself short.
